With so much hype that is currently in the media about low carbohydrate, low-fat diets or any other fad that make the scene, the truth about weight loss is often hidden in some obscure corner. The simple fact of the matter is, it is not that difficult to understand how to lose weight once you understand the specifics of the weight-loss foods that you should be eating. Here are our 5 favorites.

Raw Vegetables – As it turns out, your mother was right. Vegetables are good for you but they should be eaten in their raw state, not cooked. The way that you can know that this is the truth is because the farmer will feed his hogs cooked vegetables because it will make them fat. Raw vegetables would make them thin because you actually use energy in order to digest them.

Raw Fruit – This is somewhat similar to the vegetables, but slightly different. If you’re going to eat fruit regularly, you should make sure that you stick with low glycemic versions so that the sugar is not released into your system too quickly. Fruit is a great pick me up, and it is perfect for after a hard workout.

Eggs - This is considered to be somewhat of a perfect food, although it has taken some abuse in the past. Whole eggs give you all of the protein that you could possibly need, and they are great for you, whether they are scrambled or hard-boiled. Don’t worry about the high cholesterol myth, it doesn’t exist.

Raw Cocoa Nibs – Have you heard the dark chocolate is good for you? This is dark chocolate on steroids. Cocoa nibs are the makings of dark chocolate, without the sugar added. It is perfect for energy, as well as for an antioxidant punch that is unlike any other. You can buy these in bulk on the Internet and include them in almost anything that you enjoy eating. I have at least two tablespoons of these little gems every day, and I feel fantastic.

Chia Seeds – You have probably seen these on some cheesy late-night infomercials because of Chia pets. When eaten in their raw form, however, they have some of the best fiber that you can possibly get, along with a nutritional punch that cannot be denied. Once worshiped by the ancient Aztecs, they were considered to be nutritionally sound enough for a warrior to live off of for many months.
